Generatio Ultra Notebook
  • The Book of Kells is one of the works most associated with Irish national identity and culture. Described by James Joyce as "the most purely Irish thing we have," this illuminated manuscript has a long and complex history that has been retold and preserved since its creation in the 9th century.

Since its production in a monastery on Iona, Scotland, the Book of Kells has led a difficult, even traumatic life. Its journey continued to Kells in Ireland until it reached Dublin in the 17th century. Although some pages are missing and the manuscript has suffered some wear and tear over the years, it has remained remarkably intact despite its great age.

  • Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality journals that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss), but are instead all sewn.

All Paperblanks journals are bound using two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which originated in 4th-century Egypt, or Smythe sewn, the most durable binding technique, which allows the journal to open flat without page loss.

All Paperblanks journals use acid-free, archival-quality, high-opacity laid writing paper. Their journals also feature a ribbon bookmark and an inner pocket inside the back cover to store your notes.
