Generatio Mini Notebook
  • The Book of Kells is one of the works most associated with Irish national identity and culture. Described by James Joyce as "the most purely Irish thing we have," this illuminated manuscript has a long and complex history that has been retold and preserved since its creation in the 9th century.

Since its production in a monastery in Iona, Scotland, the Book of Kells has lived a challenging, even traumatic life. Its journey continued to Kells in Ireland before reaching Dublin in the 17th century. Although some pages are missing and the manuscript has suffered some wear over the years, it has remained remarkably robust despite its great age.

  • Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality notebooks that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss), but instead, they are all sewn.

All Paperblanks notebooks are bound using two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which dates back to 4th-century Egypt, or Smythe sewn, the most durable binding technique, which allows the notebook to open flat without page loss.

All Paperblanks notebooks use acid-free, archival-quality, high-opacity, finely laid writing paper. Their notebooks also include a ribbon bookmark and an interior pocket inside the back cover for storing your notes.
