Emerald Flower Mini Notebook
  • The setting of this special binding is as beautiful as its covers. It is housed in Dublin, Ireland, at the Benjamin Iveagh Library, a beautiful wood-paneled room containing over 5,000 books and manuscripts. The collection, located at Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park, belongs to Marsh's Library, a perfectly preserved early Enlightenment library that has remained virtually unchanged for three centuries. Within its walls are dark oak bookcases filled with 25,000 books, manuscripts and maps from the 18th century. Marsh's Library, which gives our collection its name, was the only public library in Dublin for the first century and a half of its existence. The original binding reproduced here contained the Book of Common Prayer and the Administration of the Sacraments... along with the Book of Psalms, which was the standard text used in Anglican church services. This edition was published by the famous typesetter and entrepreneur John Baskerville (1707–1775), who designed the eponymous serif font still used around the world today. The Book of Common Prayer was purchased in the late 1980s by the Irish bibliophile Benjamin Guinness, 3rd Earl of Iveagh (1937–1992). It is bound in red morocco with gold tooling, gilded edges and smooth marbled endpapers. We are excited to reproduce this magnificent antique binding, which pays homage to our common Irish ancestors, in a captivating green hue. We hope that the floral ornaments in this Emerald Floral design will inspire you to draw upon the bounty of nature and the gifts of knowledge.

  • Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality notebooks that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured, bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss) but are instead all sewn.

All Paperblanks notebooks are bound using two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which originated in 4th-century Egypt, or Smythe sewn, which is the most durable binding technique and allows the notebook to open flat without page loss.

All Paperblanks notebooks use acid-free, archival-quality, high-opacity laid writing paper. Their notebooks also feature a ribbon page marker and an interior pocket inside the back cover to store your notes.
