Emerald Flower Midi Notebook
  • The home of this exquisite binding is as beautiful as its covers. It is housed in the Benjamin Iveagh Library, a beautiful wood-panelled room in Dublin, Ireland, containing more than 5,000 books and manuscripts. The collection, located at Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park, belongs to Marsh’s Library, a perfectly preserved early Enlightenment library that has remained virtually unchanged for three centuries. Within its walls, dark oak bookcases are filled with 25,000 books, manuscripts and maps dating from the 18th century. Marsh’s Library, for which our collection is named, was the only public library in Dublin for the first century and a half of its existence. The original binding reproduced here contained the Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments... along with the Book of Psalms, which was established as the standard text for use in Anglican church services. This edition was published by the renowned typesetter and entrepreneur John Baskerville (1707–1775), who also designed the eponymous serif typeface still used around the world today. The Book of Common Prayer was purchased in the late 1980s by the Irish bibliophile Benjamin Guinness, 3rd Earl of Iveagh (1937–1992). It is a red morocco binding with gold tooling, gilt edges and smooth marbled endpapers. We are thrilled to reproduce this magnificent antique binding in a charming shade of green, paying homage to our shared Irish heritage. We hope the floral ornamentation of this Emerald Floral design will inspire you to embrace the bounty of nature and the gifts of knowledge.

  • Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality notebooks that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss) but are instead all sewn.

All Paperblanks notebooks are bound using two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which dates back to 4th-century Egypt, or Smyth sewn, which is the most durable binding technique and allows the notebook to lay flat without page loss.

All Paperblanks notebooks use acid-free, archival-quality, high-opacity, laid writing paper. The notebooks also include a ribbon marker and an inner pocket inside the back cover to store your notes.
