A magnificent 16th-century Cairo workshop is responsible for this 12-pointed star design. Although the workshop's name has been lost to history, the intricate patterns and high-quality materials used demonstrate why the books produced there are so highly valued. Paperblanks is a Canadian manufacturer that produces quality journals that are not only attractive but also extremely well-structured and bound using traditional techniques; the bindings are not glued (a binding technique that is economical for the manufacturer but eventually leads to page loss), but are instead all sewn.
All Paperblanks journals are bound using one of two methods. They are either hand-sewn using 'Coptic' binding, which originated in 4th-century Egypt, or Smyth sewn, the most durable binding technique, which allows the journal to open flat without losing pages.
All Paperblanks journals use acid-free, archival-quality, and high-opacity finely laid writing paper. Their journals also feature a ribbon page marker and an inner pocket inside the back cover for storing your notes.
