His most famous work, Khamsa (also known as the Five Treasures in English), is a series of five long narrative poems. The first of these, Makhzan-ol-Asrâr, was influenced by The Walled Garden of Truth, an early Sufi book of mystical poems by Sanai of Ghazni. The other four poems are medieval romances.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eNizami's romantic story of Layla and Majnun gave its name to the hit single \"Layla\" from Eric Clapton's album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, which was heavily influenced by Nizami and his poems of unrequited love.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWe first introduced our Persian Poetry series in the spring of 2024 with The Orchard, a cover reproducing a 17th-century binding of the Bustan by the poet and prose writer Saadi (1210–1291).
